This jumbo scratcher is crafted from eastern red cedar (also called aromatic red cedar). It is 100% natural, solid cedar, no particle board, plywood, carpet, adhesives, etc. It has not been sealed so it still releases a wonderful cedar scent.

Your unit will be approximately 34 inches long, with a trunk that is approximately 8 inches wide and 4 inches thick. This scratcher can be placed in the horizontal or vertical postion to give your cats some scratching variety. In the vertical position the beveled top will rest against a wall so that even the heaviest cat will not be able to push it over. The base and vertical bevel have felt pads to protect your floor and wall from being scratched.

And, this scratcher has a mouse! Well, a ping pong ball that acts like a mouse. Your cat will have fun trying to get the mouse from its hole. When the cat goes for the mouse it rolls up and away from the cats paw. Cats will put their whole leg in there trying to get the mouse out, but they can't because the ball (mouse) is large than the opening. When the cat removes its paw from the hole the ball rolls back and makes a faint "pong" sound. Cats don't ever seem to tire of playing with the mouse. The mouse stays in the back of its hole in the horizontal position.

It has been shaped, scraped, and hand sanded smooth yet retains its natural appearance. There are interesting contours and textures for your cats scratching pleasure. And cats can really dig their claws into this scratcher. Eastern red cedar is a perfect scratching medium for cats. The creamy wood is hard enough for satisfying scratching yet not so hard as to splinter and stick in the cats paws. The red heart and knot wood is very fragrant and the reason eastern red cedar is also known as aromatic red cedar.

We think you will love this unique scratcher for its natural beauty and wonderful scent and might even think it a shame to let the cats scratch it up. But the cats will love it for being a tree and not boring textile.
